We are excited to welcome SA’s Loophole Brewing to the Lotus portfolio. Based out of Cape Jaffa Wines on South Australia’s Limestone Coast, Loophole Brewing is the passion project of Cappa Jaffa Wines owner Derek Hooper and head brewer Tom O’Reilly.
This week we will be offering a couple Loophole’s seasonals plus 3 of their Astral project beers. Astral Project is an exciting collaboration project between Loophole and Cape Jaffa Wines featuring a simple beer then soured on fruit to showcase the fruit and brett characters.

WEST COAST TIMELY IPA
A modern take on an IPA – balance of fresh resin and juice. Fresh, wet 2020 Cascade hops were added throughout the brew along with lashings of Vic Secret in tank. This balanced IPA screams tropical-herbal hop characters for the chill time we all need. Super small batch.

SALT WATER STOUT PORTER
Drink it in. Big, dark and spicy throughout. Banana and dark chocolate tones that add texture and grip. An addition of salt water from the Cape Jaffa jetty in the kettle adds a moreish dimension to harmonise with the sweeter caramel malts. Good to go or bury in your cellar for another hard time ahead.

ASTRAL PROJECT BRETT SOUR SERIES
After years of planning we were finally able to make some skin-contact beers. The aim was to make a wort that would let the skins shine – blonde in colour to let the colours pop; very low bitterness so as not to detract from the skins flavours or clash with the acidity; higher booze to balance tannins and acidity etc. We brewed on the same day as the wines were pressed so that the skins and particularly the yeast on the skins was fresh and ready for the ferment.
